Email to Dr. House

Dr. House,

Last week, I had a patient who came into the ER unconscious with a long-time chronic cough that eventually made her cough up blood. She can hardly breathe. All tests and treatments have ruled out TB, bronchitis, pneumonia, emphysema, and other common lung ailments.

Her symptoms:
-difficulty breathing
-chronic cough (possibly have had it for several years)
-coughing up blood (first instance last week)
-Has lost consciousness twice
-chest pain

If you and your team decide to take her case, I'll send over her records immediately.

Thank you,

Dr. Jake Moore

Now THAT's service...

Before Kat was due to come in for her shift, Jake decided to leave her a makeshift 'good morning' treat.

A cinnamon-raisin bagel with a small tub of blueberry cream cheese for breakfast along with the usual, promised, daily apple and string cheese to save for later.

All were tucked neatly inside a small lunch cooler [and as an excuse for her to stop by and visit him while dropping it back off later].

Highlight of my day!

Talk about weird...I was just thinking about when this would happen again...

My sister Amy left me a message this morning that made my day...

I'm gonna be an uncle again!! :DDDD I feel like I should go and celebrate or something. Being an uncle is awesome!

<strike>Sorry, but I'm just TOO excited...Actually, no--I'm NOT sorry. It IS exciting. Ha!</strike>

Wonder what nicknames I'll end up giving this one...

Peace Offering

On Kat's desk could be found a shiny apple, the best-looking string cheese, a short, skinny clay vase painted with light, delicate, thoughtful strokes in a variety of colors with a single, fresh, yellow daisy tucked inside.

No note was accompanied. Jake knew that she would know who gave them. This was his way of saying he's sorry...and of hoping that she wasn't mad.

Ms. Ivey (or, I guess Julie will be just fine?)

Hello. Thought I'd drop a line since we got the luck of the draw and introduce myself. I'm Jake Moore, an ER attending and pretty new here. Just wondering what you'd like to do and when. And as for what we'd do--whatever you want to do--honestly. I like to think I'm fairly easygoing. Plus--I don't know about you--but I don't really know this area. Princeton's an entirely different place than NYC.

Looking forward to meeting you,

~Jake

More Cookiessssss!!!

Jake, with customary, yet genuine smile affixed to his face, went around doling out baskets to each respective department, with the note:

"To the Department of _______, with sincerest regards, Dr. Moore and Dr. Murphy"

- Lab: half sugar, half snickerdoodles
- Admin: assortment
- OB-GYN: chocolate chip
- Orthopedics: half chocolate chip, half peanut butter
- ER: chocolate white chocolate chip macadamia
- Surgery: oatmeal raisin
- Otolaryngology: half chocolate chip, half oatmeal raisin

In addition, he left the best looking apple and string cheese on Kat's desk with a simple, scribbled note on a post-it he found quickly on her desk:

As promised.

Yes, today was going to be a GREAT day at the good ol' PPTH...

So Far, So Good...

[Private]

I'm homesick already. Not that I don't like it here. It's just not home yet. Yet.

I'm always the person people go to for advice--what would I tell myself? -- Give it time. You'll make friends, make a new life of your own that you can share with your family.

God, I'm so codependent. But that's why I'm a doctor--I've got my patients to keep me company. Not an entirely bad bunch, knock on wood.

[/Private]

Anyone suggest things to do around here? Not really a clubbing type so much, but any places where I could catch a good movie or perhaps pick up a new hobby? Legal ones preferable, of course ;)

After stopping in the cafeteria (and having lunch with fellow New Yorker Peter and the lovely Kat--still thinking of a nickname...), the New Yorker in me longs for just a good sandwich. Not something swimming in 2-day old mayo. Good pickles would be nice too. Oh, I could list my greivances, but I won't.

...Because--well--technically...I already did. Heh.

Where's a good pizza place around here? Or a good deli? Good bagels? Ooh...Good Chinese? Or else I should just brown bag it, huh? Yeah, that'd probably be safer.

Yeah, I know--I'm highly demanding. Now to make a quick call to Mom before diving back into the good ol' ER.
